A Sewing Week

Tom left for CA and IL this AM and will return on Fri so I will be sewing like crazy. Here are pictures of two to the quilt kits I purchased last month when I was bored. I will be working on these, a Yellow Brick Road in creams and 2 LWR quilts. Will post my progress starting tomorrow! Weather is perfect!

I think they are both going to be very cute!

Border by Border

This is the mini quilt I will be trying to finish this week. It is a Quilt-Along project from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop. I have been working on it little by little for months and now am almost done. Just added that last border of little-3" churn dash blocks. Cute but tedious and now I still have to do the hand blanket stitching on the wool appliques on the last two borders. Soooo will sit outside in our beautiful AZ 70's and listen to the book The Invention of Wings by Susan Kidd will stitch away!

Lutheran World Relief

My goal this year is to personally make 24 Lutheran World Relief Quilts. Grace Lutheran Church Service Workshop works on these quilts all year and in late Sept. we display them in church. We also put together sewing kits, baby care kits and school bags. All of these items are taken to a gathering center in Elgin and then shipped to somewhere in MN. Then they are distributed all over the world to disaster situations. Here is a picture of my two January LWR quilts, finished!! and my 4 Feb and March quilt kits.  The third picture is of fabric I have gathered for the 6 quilts I will make next winter (2016). Sometime before we go back to IL I will try to cut and prepare the 6 quilt kits for next winter.

Can't believe I have not been blogging since last May. I won't even begin to think about all that has gone on, so won't try to blog about it either. But I will try to post some pictures of quilts and quilt projects I have been working on and some that the Graceful Quilters have been doing also. Nancy wants me to remove those last pictures of us at Grace Service Workshop because that "ugly" Lutheran World Relief quilt is REALLY UGLY. I won't take if off but maybe I can find some pictures of prettier ones.
First I want to thank all the guests at our Holiday Open House who donated the baby care kit items. Alyssa, Sarah and I put together 10 kits and will do at least 4 more when I add a few things to the mix. Here are some pics of us putting the kits together and the kits!! Thanks so much for being a part of this.
