Monday Regrouping

Hi all, I am getting back in the groove since last weekend when Sarah was here for a long weekend. We had fun, resting, puzzling and some shopping. It was cold and rainy, even colder one day than it was in L'Ville. Here some pictures of what's up!!

I've been reading a lot, finished Enemy Women( good) by the same author of News of the World (very good) and now have started Underground Railroad, by Colson Whitehead. It is very good but hard to read about some of the horrors of slave conditions in the South before the Civil War.  This book is an award winner or runner up.

I made this quilt years ago, not sure I ever posted a picture of it . Alex Anderson's Paper Pieced Sampler made with hand dyed Cherrywood fabrics. It hangs here in the back hall.

Monday

Sarah's finished knitted throw-
Before we left IL I cut all the bright leftover material I had, and I had a lot, into some kits, a yellow brick road, etc and the rest I cut into 5" squares. I had just under 500 squares. I have sewn them into random 4-patch blocks and will sew them into 3 child sized quilts. Who knows what I will do with them. Someone will need them someday!! Here are the blocks. Tomorrow I'll lay them out maybe with pictures.

Watching Victoria, Taboo, Homeland, and Blacklist.

Saturday

Finished reading The Dry. Started it yesterday. Very good mystery set in Australia. Working on my squares quilts made from 5" squares from all of my bright stash fabrics.  Started by sewing pairs together. Really bothered my back. Very stiff. Not sure why. Maybe the rainy day we are having. Will post pictures tomorrow. Finished Sarah's knitted  throw. Whew!,

Sarah's blanket and the rag quilt

Sarah's knitted blanket, knitting is done. Now I have to add the fringe. 230 rows of 200 stitches. Ugh, that's a lot of knitting!!

The rag quilt-I still need to wash and dry it. May take it to a laundrymat here or wait until I get home.

Went to church this AM.  Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Carefree. Beautiful music. Very nice service.

LWR Quilt work plus so much more

1 of 6 for the winter. Also working on a flannel rag quilt. In December I went through all the scraps and stash fabrics i've had sitting around for ages and put together about 10 kits (UGH), one of which is the flannel rag quilt.  I also made 2 Yellow Brick Road quilts out of the tons of black and white fabric I had been accumulating for at least 10 yrs and gave them to Chloe and Paige Bleck (see their pictures below) Brennan Bleck received the Northwoods Line by Line sampler that part of our group
worked on last fall.
