Here are pictures of  all the projects I have been working on today. I know I said I was going to put together the Farmer's Wife top and I did get it laid out and stacked up and ready to go tomorrow or Fri. Pic of the lay out is in top row left. I had already started stacking it up when I remembered I wanted a picture.

The other projects are for church, for our Service workshop and/or Lutheran World Relief. I finished tying the quilt, top row-right yesterday and finished adding the binding today. This is the 16th LWR quilt I have finished so far the this yr (since Sept-we send them out in Oct., my goal is 2 a month)

I also hemmed 10 flannel receiving blankets for layettes-lower row left pictures. Alyssa and Sarah will help me put them together in the fall. These are also for Lutheran World Relief and we will be able to put together 6 layettes. These are sent out in Oct. also. I have been gathering hooded sweatshirts, diapers, soap, sleepers, shirts, the blankets, socks, towels and pins. All sizes from 3-24 months.  We are always looking for donations of these items.

Then I cut out a twin size Yellow Brick Road from Christmas fabric that had been donated to our Workshop, lower right pic. I will try to get someone from workshop to piece this one or I will also do it in Sept. I am also going to have to piece the back too, as we don't have a big enough piece for backing. If it turns out cute I think we will try to sell it so that we can send the $ along with the quilts to LWR to help with the shipping costs.

I can get alot accomplished when Tom leaves for a few days, I can leave all my stuff all over the place and don't even have to think about "what's for dinner"!!

Appliqued Blocks for the 72 Block Farmer's Wife Quilt

Hi, here are pictures of the 24 appliqued blocks I am going to use in the 72 block "Farmer's Wife quilt. I spent yesterday and this AM getting everything ready. I cut all the sashing strips, setting triangles, (the quilt will be set on point), corner triangles, cornerstones, borders, backing and binding. I then attached one sashing strip to the side of each block. I have sewn together the sashing strips, borders, backing and binding and so everything is ready to be put together. Tomorrow Tom leaves for a few days and I will lay out the quilt blocks with the sashing strips and will post a picture for comments on my layout, then if all is okay, I will sew together the quilt top. This is a big operation and I thought the blocks were a project!!

Farmer's Wife Quilt Red White and Blue

Hi all, once again I am sorry for not being a more constant blogger but I have been so busy. In the next few posts I will try to catch up on all that has been happening and post lots of pictures of the quilts and blocks I have been working on. The biggest accomplishment in the quilting department is that I have finished ALL the Farmer's Wife blocks, all the blocks I am going to do from the Blocks from the Past book etc. Here are the totals. I have done 110 blocks from The Farmer's Wife book, plus 9 more (done in a second colorway), 20 (+ 1 repeat) pieced from Blocks from the Past, 24 (+1 repeat) appliqued from BFTP and 4 extra basket blocks.  For  a total of 167 blocks.  Each of the blocks are 6" finished. They are going to be put into 4 different quilts as they are done in 4 different colorways. I have finished a Red, White and Blue 61 blocks quilt and it is at Marge West's Creations by Marge studio along with the small Fig Tree Basket Sampler. Then I am going to put together, this week, a 72 block quilt top done in Moda Garance fabrics which is mostly reds, browns, tans and greens. When that one is done and off the Marge's I am going to work on the last one for Sarah- done in mostly the blues and greens from Moda's Fandango line. Here are some pictures of the red, white and blue quilt top.
